The 1999–2000 season was a challenging campaign for Northampton Town in the Second Division. Under manager Ian Atkins, the Cobblers struggled for consistency and finished 21st in the league, narrowly avoiding relegation. Despite some spirited performances, the team lacked the depth and quality needed to compete higher up the table. In cup competitions, they failed to make a significant impact, exiting early in both the FA Cup and the League Cup.
