Between 1990 and 1992, the France national football team experienced a period of transition and rebuilding following their failure to qualify for the 1990 FIFA World Cup. Under new manager Michel Platini, who took charge in 1988, the team began to regain form and confidence, assembling a promising squad that included emerging talents such as Eric Cantona and Didier Deschamps. France successfully qualified for UEFA Euro 1992 with a perfect record in the qualifying campaign, signaling a resurgence. However, despite high expectations, their Euro 1992 campaign ended in disappointment as they were eliminated in the group stage, leading to Platini's resignation and another shift in leadership.
