Marvelous Nakamba joined Aston Villa from Club Brugge in August 2019 for a reported £11 million, becoming the fourth Zimbabwean to play in the Premier League. The defensive midfielder made his debut in a 6–1 EFL Cup win over Crewe Alexandra and his Premier League debut in a 0–0 draw against West Ham United on 16 September 2019. Over four seasons at Villa Park, Nakamba made 58 Premier League appearances and was known for his tenacious tackling and positional discipline. He was voted Villa's Player of the Month in November 2021, highlighting his growing influence under then-manager Steven Gerrard. However, a knee injury in December 2021 disrupted his momentum, and under Unai Emery, he fell out of favour, making no appearances in the first half of the 2022–23 season. In January 2023, Nakamba joined Luton Town on loan, helping them secure promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs. His move was made permanent in July 2023, ending his time at Aston Villa with 68 appearances across all competitions.
