Jesús “Suso” Fernández arrived at AC Milan in January 2015 from Liverpool for around €1 million, initially struggling to break into the first team and spending the second half of the 2015–16 season on loan at Genoa, where he scored six goals in 19 Serie A appearances. After returning to Milan, he developed into a key attacking winger under Vincenzo Montella and later Gennaro Gattuso, known for his signature inside-cut from the right onto his left foot, drawing Arjen Robben comparisons, and delivering consistent goal threat and creativity, peaking between 2016–2019 with 21 goals and over 30 assists across all competitions. He also helped Milan win the 2016 Supercoppa Italiana. At the end of January 2020, after 153 appearances and 24 goals for Milan, Suso departed for Sevilla, ending a transformative near five-year spell in Italy.
